Something to Cheer You Up

Something to cheer you up if you are still upset about Florida:

Everyone Loves Lyon

In fact, one rich guy loves it so much, he is building his own copy. I'll bet he's jealous that I used to live in the real Lyon. Check out the article from the New York Times.

Hilarious

Photo Shoots

I have been involved in two photo shoots lately. I'm starting to feel like a celebrity.

1. This first one is for my profile page on the new firm website. They hired a professional photographer and a professional make-up artist. The make-up was not optional. I got a lecture about having dry skin while she applied lotion and other crap on my face. Some people lack tact.

Check out the results here.

2. The second one was impromptu. My friend Peter decided to take pictures of the crew at a little breakfast get-together we had at a beach house in Newport a couple of weeks back. He's a pretty good photographer if you ask me.

Pete's photos of the crew are here.

Idaho Roots

I'm told this innocuous looking barn and little red school house is the base of a complicated international drug smuggling ring. It's the only explanation for the enterprise's inexplicable longevity. And, the neighbors have seen things.Main Street in Rigby Idaho was once home to the venerable institution Hayes Chainsaw and Video Rental. I'm proud to be related to the people who created the only store in the world where you could both buy a chainsaw and rent the Texas Chainsaw Massacre in a one-stop shopping experience. Main Street Rigby was also home to one of the last old-fashioned soda fountains in the West. I got to experience the Reed Drug fountain firsthand with my Grandpa before Reed Drug Burned down in the 80s.

Grandma's house is always full of interesting things to look at. I thought you might like looking at some of the things on her wall.
Maybe I'll post some more pictures of Idaho later.

TOSCA

Here are some pics from my lastest show...TOSCA! I am a choir boy and it has been fun to do a pants role. Six of us "girls" from the chorus are beefing up the sound of 15 "real boys" from the Madeline Choir School. Here is what the SLC Tribune had to say,"The unbilled Madeleine Choir School chorister who sang the role of the shepherd boy Saturday earned special mention for his clear, unaffected singing, as did his classmates for the natural charm they brought to their roles in the church scene. " Wooohooo...us "girls" think that includes us too..It has been fun to rub shoulders with these funny little boys. My favorite moment was in chorus warm-ups before our first dress rehersal. One of the real boys saw me in my wig and costum for the first time..his eyes got huge and he did a double take as he exclaimed .."Whow!" It was priceless and perfect and totally made my night.

Mom and Dad Visit PA

We got up early (ish) and walked the dish--a 3.2 mile, hilly trail behind Stanford campus that locals (including me) love.

We had breakfast at Stacks (just after this picture was taken, Dad tried to gnaw on my arm because we had to wait so long for a table...)

We browsed the Stanford bookstore (Dad wanted to add a hat to his collection) where Mom advised the salespeople on maternity clothes sizing so they could help another customer (they thought she looked motherly :). We wandered through the Cantor Arts Center, the museum on campus, and ended the day with yummy frozen yogurt from Fraiche, (organic, very yummy, and very PA)

and a tour of the house on Melville.

Wish you all could've come too.

It was fun, Mom and Dad! Visit again soon!

Conversations with Jackson

J: "But, Mom, how do you know?"
me: "'Cause I'm super smart."
J: "No, you're not!"
me: "Yes, I am!"
J: "Do you know how to fly?"
me: (pause) "Uh...no."
J: "Can you do magic?"
me: (sheepishly) "No."
J: "Can you disappear things?"
me: "Well, no."
J: (obviously feeling sorry for me)"That's okay mom...you just hide it behind you and its disappeared!"

Thanks J. I guess I'm not as smart as I thought I was.

Jackson's thoughts on Bananas:

J: Mom, this banana feels like poop. I do not like the black stuff!
