Our last day we drove into Lahina to show the kids the Largest banyan Tree in the US...It's pretty cool. Pic of Mom and her to little nuggets of joy on the beach.
Family pics in front of Rainbow Eucalyptus trees.
Playing in the warm Maui rain. Jake thoroughly enjoyed his soaking...he was literally giddy with delight.

Family photo at our visit to the grave of Charles Limbergh (noted aviator).
Great banyan tree in front of the church were Limbergh is buried.
Enjoying awesome Thai food...I mean..awesome!! Pranna, cooks on Sundays and mondays only, starting at 11am until the food is gone...so you better come early.
.
My view every morning from the family room in the Hana House. We picked our own bannanas, star fruit, guava, lilly coi, limes, and lemons. Yummy...we also enjoyed the best papaya and avacodoes I have ever had...fresh picked from a neighbors yard.

Wianapanapa State Park

Just down the road from the Hana house is an awesome state park with a black sand beach, blow hole, and caves where a legendary Hawaiian princess hid to escape an unwanted marraige.

Hamoa Beach

Hamoa Beach is a great black sand beach...with good surf to do a little body surfing. And of course enough sand for the kiddos to dig to there hearts content.

Hana Bay

Our first trip to Hana Bay, Jake took a much needed nap. That same afternoon Hana was having a film feastival at the Bay..so we also enjoyed some great local entertainment.

Hana Bay isn't the greatest beach, but because of the coral reef it breaks up the wave action and it a great beach for the kids to play in the water. If you can't tell Addie loved digging and playing in the sand and Jake loved chasing the surf in and out.

Venus Pool

Some locals, Thomas and Tiffany, took us to this great spot. Through a barbed wire fence and a short walk through a field. then down the rock cliffs...it was awesome. A little nerve racking with the little ones, but we had a blast. Thank heavens Thomas brought his surf board so we could float Addie and Jake out into the pool and over to the rock beach. The pool is extremely deep...so of course we had to do some cliff jumping. Addie right after jumping off a 5ft cliff. Mom was to slow with the camera to get an inmotion pic. Justin jumping 30ft cliff. Jackson being cute. On our way to the pool.
Playing on the rocks at Venus Pool.

Spooky Fun

This week was Addie's Pre-school Halloween Party. I volunteered to put together one of the games. We had fun decorating cookies, playing candy corn bingo, pumpkin bowling, a bean bag toss and treat or treating. The kids looked great in there costumes...and of course Addie is the cutest Minnie Mouse ever. Thank heavens the costume still fits and she wanted to be the samething as last year. Jake had a blast as well. He loved the kid sized sinks and spent most of his time standing on the stool playing in the soap bubbles left by the previous hand washer. He also has a new found love of Candy Corn.

We carved our pumpkins that same night and found out that Jake likes to munch on pumpkin seeds and then spit them out...too funny.

Macbeth

Pics from my latest Opera....I will try and post some pics from our performances as soon as Utah Opera posts them...or at least a link to them. This is the first show that I haven't had a wig!! Yippeee....it makes getting out of the theatre soooooo much faster...and it is fun to have my hair done every night by our fab wig and make-up people. Our reviews have been great.

A Week of Perfectly, Pumply, Dumply, Pumpkins

Last week, was the week of pumpkins. Addie had a preschool field trip to the Black Island Farm Pumpkin patch and corn maze. We had so much fun taking our Hayride around the farm and learning about all the things they grow there. Addie was so excitied to not only pick the perfect pumpkin, but a great carrot and onion as well. The farm also has a wonderful courtyard full of activities a pumpkin bounce house, potatoe sack slides, cow train, and pig races. Addie and Jake were very mad at mom when it was time to go.
Our Second pumpkin patch was at J&J Garden Center. Every year they give out free tickets to get a fun hayride and free pumpkin. Addie was so excitied to get to go to another Pumpkin Patch and Jake love watching the big wheels on the tractor. We can't wait to make Jack-o-lanterns out of our little orange friends.Posted by Picasa

Macbeth

So...If you are wondering where I have been or what I have been doing? This is it! I told Justin that as soon as I saw the score I should have put it down turned around and walked out of the production studio. With well over 100 pages of music to learn, I started working on my music 3 weeks before musical rehearsals started.(I never do this..especially since my rehearsal time includes my two little monkeys climbing all over me banging out there own tune on the piano as I try to learn mine.) Tonight, could be our last musical rehearsal, as Susanne(chorus master extraordinaire) promises that if we are brilliant she will cancel tomorrow nights rehearsal. Let's pray for this people..I sure would like a night off. I have to admit now that all the hard work is done, it is a great sing..so come see Utah Opera's production of MACBETH Oct 17th thru 25th. Verdi's ( or as Justin likes to call him Green) music is beautiful...although I am still baffled why he penned most of the Witches chorus' in major keys. They sound way to happy, lyrical and fun for the text that goes with them (ie..the finger of a strangled baby..YIKES!!) as Susanne says we need a little less Glinda and a lot more Wicked.

Yesterday, Addison attended her first day of Preschool. She was so excitied to go all day that the first thing she did in the morning was pack up Cupid(her fav stuffed bear) in her backpack.( They kids were asked to bring a fav toy or stuffed animal their first day. I heard, "Mom, I'm ready to go now!" about three zillion times. Needless to say she had a great time, singing songs, playing, and painting and she can't wait to go back again.

Alaska

1. The Alaska pipeline, just outside of Fairbanks.

2. Mike panning for gold. We actually found some, although we didn't strike it rich!

3. The sign for the ice bridge in Fairbanks. The river freezes over every winter (-40-50 degrees) and they use the river as a shortcut.

4.Kayaking on Byers Lake. Mt. Mckinley is in the background.

Alaska

1. Charissa
2. Paddle Wheel Boat- We took a ride up the river and visited the dog sled training facility and an Athabascan Indian village. Very Interesting!
3. View from our room in Fairbanks. In the morning we heard the honking of Canadian geese!
