Kate: Hey, mom can I get one of those card things.
Me: What do you mean?
Kate: You know, one of those cards you swipe (arm motion included) when you want to buy things.
Me: Do you mean a credit card?
Kate: Yes! Can I have one?
Me: NO! Not only are you not old enough, you do not have a job!
Kate: Please. Pretty please with a cherry on top. I am big, Mom!
Me: No. No. No.
Long conversation follows about earning money, working hard...etc. We did, however, finally decide that Kate would be satisfied with a lunch card she could "swipe" to get school lunch when they have hot dogs. Crisis averted...for now!

Hey Erica...they have pre-paid credit cards! They are like a gift card that you can use anywhere on anything because it's VISA. :)
