"Good morning, class!"

"Good morning, Ms. Hayes!" (I make them say it in chorus).

Today at work I...

opened the windows

made copies

wrote the homework for the week on the board

took attendance (3 times)

assured a student that double-spacing was unnecessary

cut out a hundred slips of paper

made more copies

made sure the sevvies had all their supplies

led discussions on "what makes good writing good"

observed

ate peanut butter cups from Trader Joe's

made copies

cut out more pieces of paper

ate a sandwich while supervising lunch hour

told the seventh grade boys that, no, they could not climb on the tables to slam dunk the basketball (apparently the seventh grade girls giggled when one said, "I love it when the boys try to show off. And then the teacher comes.")

read essays

recorded scores

attended the freshman-run assembly

memorized names

told Alex he did a good job

told Shrreya "no"

called Ted Anthony. Again.

gave Reid his makeup work

e-mailed lesson plans to the dept chair

read e-mails

said the words "Eyes up here. I'm not speaking until everyone is quiet" multiple times.

made a grammar worksheet

organized papers

lost other papers

attempted to explain the word "ultimatum" in terms of The Bourne Ultimatum

read essays and took notes

was encouraged by my eighth graders to convince the principle to buy me a "smart board" (because white board markers make me sneeze)("The science room has one!" "And you're allergic!" "We could write a proposal!")

listened to the Grammar Rock noun song--as rockin' as it ever was.

What did you do at work today?

Sounds exciting. Today I cleaned up pee, scrubbed crayon out of the carpet, tried inventive ways to get nail polish out of a dresser, begged kids to eat, said "No" more than it should be said, yelled, laughed, smiled and cooked. We, women have full days, don't we?

You are superwoman.

(The hmmmm at the end of my post sounded bratty. Believe me, Hayes women, I am under no delusions that my job is harder than yours. I am constantly impressed. I just wanted to hear all about it, so I could continue to be impressed).

Oh, dear. I wasn't trying to sound competitive. I liked your post a lot. It's fun to get a slice of what your life is like. I only wanted to reciprocate. I think you are a superwoman too...Michelly-belly. Keep up the posting. I love to hear what you are up too. Also, I need to throw out this question to cyberspace--Didn't we have a brother? Where is he? Does he ever post or at least leave a comment?
