A week of first's

I know it is hard to believe but I, Angela Lewis have never ever mowed a lawn until this week. And to be quite honest I never really had intentions of mowing a lawn either....but due to Justin's demanding schedule and my desire to have ever minute that he is home spent hanging out with Addison and I.....I decided that I had to tackle our jungle of a lawn before we couldn't wade through it anymore. Attempt number one involved me getting the lawn mower out of the shed, trash bag for the clippings in tow. It only took me a few seconds to figure out I had to squeeze the handles together on the mower to get the pull cord to reach it's full exstention. After several, several minutes of pulling and yanking I couldn't get the darn thing to start and gave up. I later confessed over the phone to justin that I had tried to mow the lawn, but couldn't get the lawn mower started...."Did you prime the engine?" he asked...primed the engine?????? How did you do that? So, there was a little button you had to push on the front of the mower....OK...so here goes attempt number two. This time I actually got the mower started...AHHHH success, and I was off pushing the mower through our jungle, feeling very proud of my mastery of this art. Because of the depth of our jungle I had only mowed a small clearing when I had to empty the bag. I figured out how to take the bag off and dumped my clippings in the trash bag without to much trouble. I got the bag reattached and went to start the mower again...and can you believe it I couldn't get the pull cord to extend....I didn't know what I was doing wrong...I had repeated my earlier process that resulted in the mower starting with ease. I pulled and pulled, for what seemed like hours and nothing..I knew I had broken the mower. I admitted to as much as soon as Justin got home. Did you know that grass can get clogged up under neath the mower and make it so the blade won't turn and the cord won't pull...taaadaaa..so in attempt number 3 I sucessfully finished mowing the lawn.

On wednesday, I flew with Justin for the first time commercially. He has only been flying a CRJ for two years and Wed. was the first time I was able to go. Justin was doing an Aspen, CO stand-up. ( A stand-up is where you fly the last flight out of SLC and then fly the first flight back in the morning) A quick date night but fun nevertheless. Because both flights were wide open and I was pretty much gaurenteed a seat, and I was able to get a little bit of special treatment. On Wed night, I was able to go down to the plane early with Justin and he took me on his pre-flight walk around. I even hung out in the Captain's chair while Justin showed me how to get the plane up and running and went through some of his pre-flight duties. Of course, I had to vacate my prime seat when the Captain showed up. Once we were on our way...Justin gave me a special welcome aboard over the intercom and the flight attendants made me wave to the other passengers. It was a great flight and a lot of fun...it's just to bad we didn't have more time to explore Aspen as we had to get up at 5:30am to fly out at 7 am. I guess we will have to make the trip again. This morning I was able to board the plane first and spend a few minutes with Justin checking out the beautiful mountains all around us in the early morning sun. And in true Aspen glit and glamore...Howard Dean was sitting right behind me!

Sorry no pics...I brought the camera but never really had a chance to snap any pics :(

P.S. Why am I the only one posting...hmmm...hmmmm????

You may be the only one posting but you aren't the only one reading :) I think some members of the family have jumped ship and started competing blogs...
